PONTIAN: A storm caused significant damage to about 28 houses near Kampung Melayu Raya Rizab 1 along Jalan Tahfiz in Pekan Nanas here on Sunday (May 3).
Pekan Nanas Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Md Bakhtiar Chik said they received an emergency call about the incident at around 4pm.
“A team from the Pekan Nanas Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location, about 18km away, and arrived at 4.18pm.
“Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that a storm had struck the area, causing damage to approximately 28 houses,” he said.
Md Bakhtiar added that all occupants were safe and no injuries were reported.
“The operation is ongoing, with personnel conducting a thorough monitoring of the area to ensure conditions remain safe,” he said, adding that the operation involved nine personnel and one fire engine.
