Husband-and-wife duo arrested with nearly RM4mil worth of drugs

JOHOR BARU: Police have dismantled a drug distribution syndicate with the arrest of a local couple at a house in Kulai, about 32km from here.

Johor Police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the suspects, a 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were arrested in a raid on June 25 at 10.50pm.

“We managed to seize 26.94kg of various types of drugs from them with an estimated street value of RM3.59mil,” he said in a statement.

The seized substances include 16 packets of methylenedioxymethamphetamine weighing 21.76 grams, 1.88 grams of ecstasy powder, three packets of ketamine weighing 682 grams, 1,621 ecstasy pills and 6,400 Erimin 5 pills.

Comm Ab Rahaman said the drugs could satisfy 90,277 users.

The husband-and-wife duo are believed to have been actively distributing drugs since early January 2026.

“Their modus operandi is to use the house as a storage and repacking place before distributing the drugs for the domestic market,” added Comm Ab Rahaman.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and both suspects have been remanded from June 26 until July 1.

Comm Ab Rahaman said initial investigations found the man has a previous drug-related record under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The male suspect tested positive for methamphetamine while his wife is negative,” he said.

Comm Ab Rahaman said police also seized three cars, RM25,000 in cash, and jewellery worth RM18,000, bringing the total sum of the seized drugs and the items to RM3.8mil.
