Man who allegedly beat a child with a chair granted bail

PETALING JAYA: A 38-year-old man who allegedly beat a child with a chair has been granted police bail.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsulmuddin Mamat confirmed the matter when contacted.

"The investigation paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor office for further action," he said.

Previously police arrested the local man after a video of him physically abusing children went viral on social media.

"Investigation found that the incident happened at a house in Petaling Jaya where the suspect was the children's own uncle. The children were aged eight to 11.

"The incident was believed to have been triggered by the children's defiance of the suspect's mother who is at the same location," ACP Shamsulmuddin said in a statement on Sunday (Jan 18).
