Couple found dead in Sri Aman died of a total of 13 stab wounds, say cops


KUCHING: The married couple found slain in their home at Taman Mutiara in Sri Aman died from stab wounds, according to the police.

Sarawak police commissioner Comm Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said a post-mortem at the Sarawak General Hospital here on Thursday (Jan 15) found 11 wounds from a sharp object on the husband's neck and chest, while his wife had two stab wounds on her neck.

He also said police had recorded statements from 21 witnesses so far, comprising family members, neighbours and the victims' colleagues.

"Nevertheless, the motive of the incident is still being investigated and has not been fully established," he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 16).

Comm Zainal added that police were continuing their investigations with professionalism and transparency, based on forensic evidence and witness statements.

He urged the public not to speculate on the case and to respect the privacy of the family during this time.

The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The couple, identified as 45-year-old Andy Roy Junran and Angelin Kibin, 44, were found dead in their bedroom on Wednesday (Jan 14).

Andy was a primary school headmaster, while Angelin was a nurse. They had two daughters and a son.

It was earlier reported that the couple's remains were brought back to Sri Aman after the post-mortem examinations, with burial to take place on Sunday (Jan 18).
