A YOUNG woman overcame frequent mockery over her physical appearance, using it as motivation to enter university and secure a job, Kosmo! reported.

Nurain Hairulhaizuren, 28, who was born with an eye disability and a cleft condition, said she has undergone 20 facial surgeries since childhood, and that an infection caused one of her eyes to be removed.

She obtain a degree in information technology from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and later started doing live broadcasts on TikTok.

She did not expect the platform to become a new source of strength for her.

“Many people gave words of encouragement. Of course, there are also nasty comments, some mock me, saying I’m using a ‘filter’, but I just ignore them,” she said.

Nurain said she believes her presence can give strength to others in similar situations.

“If we keep thinking about what others say, we’ll be trapped there forever. Life must go on,” she said.
