Nearly RM20mil collected under Selangor police traffic summons discount


PETALING JAYA: Selangor police recorded total collections of about RM19.5mil following the implementation of a 70% reduction in traffic summons compounds, which ran from Nov 1 until Tuesday (Dec 30).

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the amount involved the settlement of 258,345 summonses, comprising 125,759 summonses (RM11.4mil) for on-the-spot offences and 132,586 summonses (RM8.01mil) for offences issued without the driver’s presence.

He said the Klang Selatan district police headquarters (IPD) recorded the highest collection at RM2.7mil, followed by the Petaling Jaya IPD at RM2.1mil and the Kajang IPD at RM1.7mil.

“Selangor police are seeing a positive trend, with the public increasingly embracing digital technology. Although cash payments still recorded a higher amount at RM10.05mil, e-payment methods also showed very significant figures, with collections totalling RM9.4mil.

“This indicates that the public now prefers faster and more efficient transactions, in line with the nation’s digital transformation agenda,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 31).

He also expressed appreciation for the public’s commitment to settling their outstanding summonses.

“This initiative not only helps ease the burden on the public but also serves as a catalyst for greater awareness and compliance with road laws, for the well-being of all road users in the state,” he added.
