GOF says it has nabbed over 1,600 people, seized goods worth RM1.1bil in 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,649 individuals have been arrested in 538 raids carried out by the General Operations Force (GOF) Central Brigade in 2025.

Central Brigade commander Senior Asst Comm Hakemal Hawari said the operations along the country's maritime borders were conducted in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

"1,649 individuals were arrested, with various seizures amounting to a total value of RM1.1bil.

"This success reflects the GOF's continued commitment to combating crimes that threaten the nation's security and well-being," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 31).

SAC Hakemal said the brigade adopted various strategies to combat smuggling, particularly along maritime border areas involving the Selangor coastline and the west coast of Johor.

"Several operations were carried out, including Ops Taring Nyah 1 to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants, Ops Kontraban to curb the smuggling of duty-free goods, Ops Bersepadu Khazanah involving offences related to wildlife and national heritage and Ops Hazard targeting environmental crimes," he said.

"The police also call on the public to cooperate by coming forward with information and acting as the eyes and ears of the security forces, to ensure that the country's borders remain free from intrusion and illegal activities," he said.
