Woman found drowned in Taiping lake

IPOH: A senior citizen has been found dead after she is believed to have drowned in a lake in Taiping's Taman Tasik early Tuesday (Dec 30) morning.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting deputy operations director Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the body of the 73-year-old woman was discovered floating near the lake embankment.

He said personnel from the Taiping station were dispatched at 9.01am and arrived at the scene 26 minutes later.

"Rescue personnel used ropes to recover the body, which was handed over to the police for further investigation," he said.

The operation, involving six personnel, ended at 9.55am, he added.

Shazlean reminded the public to exercise caution near bodies of water.
