PETALING JAYA: The Selangor government hopes to seal a confidence and supply agreement (CSA) with Bersatu before the tabling of the Selangor Budget next November.
Sinar Harian on Thursday (Oct 8) reported that Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said negotiations were still ongoing and had yet to be finalised.
“As of now, it has not been signed yet because there is still some back and forth (at the) negotiation and discussion stage,” he said after attending the People’s Welfare Insurance Scheme (SIKR) Tour 3.0 programme.
It was reported that Selangor Bersatu’s 11 assemblymen had yet to finalise their proposed CSA with the state government.
According to the report, Bersatu put forward several demands during the negotiations, which exceeded the state government’s expectations.
Commenting further, Amirudin said the state government is considering its experience with the CSA at the federal level in efforts to establish cooperation with the opposition in Selangor.
He said under the framework, the state government and the opposition could discuss the form of cooperation as well as matters concerning the people’s interests.
“We discuss the format and method, and we take experience and lessons from the CSA between Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the time and the federal government.
“However, even without a CSA, the opposition in Selangor still receives an allocation, although it is only half of the overall cost,” he said.
Asked about Bersatu’s support for the initiative, Amirudin said the matter was still at an early stage of discussion.
“We will provide further updates if an agreement is successfully reached and sealed by both parties,” he said.
