Dead man found trapped in culvert in Tapah

IPOH: A man was found dead inside a culvert in Kampung Baru Tanah Mas near Tapah.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting deputy director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the department received an emergency call at 1.38pm on Saturday (Dec 27) about someone being trapped.

He said a team from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene nine minutes later.

“Firefighters found the male victim unresponsive inside a culvert ring.

“Medical personnel who were also at the scene, later confirmed that the man had died,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the operation commander conducted an initial assessment before instructing personnel to carry out rescue works using a stretcher to extract the victim.

“The body was successfully removed and handed over to police for further action,” he said.
