PETALING JAYA: First-time homebuyers will receive full stamp duty exemptions on loan agreements and property transfer instruments for homes priced up to RM500,000 under Budget 2027.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the exemption would also cover the first RM500,000 of homes priced up to RM750,000, with a 50% exemption on the remaining amount.
The incentive applies to sale and purchase agreements completed between Jan 1, 2027 and Dec 31, 2030.
The government will also grant full stamp duty exemptions on loan agreements and property transfer instruments involving abandoned housing projects.
Anwar said the exemption, which takes effect from Jan 1, 2027 to Dec 31, 2030, would cover rescue contractors or developers and original buyers as part of efforts to achieve zero abandoned housing projects by 2030.
Separately, nearly RM1bil has been allocated for housing initiatives, including Rumah Mesra Rakyat and Program Residensi Rakyat.
Four new housing projects will be developed in Kulai, Johor; Nilai, Negri Sembilan; Paya Rumput, Melaka; and Lembah Pertang, Terengganu.
The SJKP housing financing guarantee scheme will provide up to RM20bil in guarantees, expected to assist 80,000 first-time homebuyers, particularly self-employed individuals without fixed incomes.
The government will also develop Bandar Madani Bukit Jalil as a fully equipped affordable housing area, including vertical schools.
Registration for the project's first phase will open this Monday.
