Budget 2027: Local authorities get more funds to maintain public parks, hawker stalls


PETALING JAYA: Local authorities will get an increased RM700mil under Budget 2027 to upgrade public facilities like parks, toilets and stalls.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in tabling the budget on Friday (Oct 9), said the allocation will also focus on constructing Madani stalls and redeveloping sites including the Jalan Chui Yin hawker complex in Bentong, Pahang; Buntong market in Ipoh, Perak; and the Hill Trace hawker site in Georgetown, Penang.

Meanwhile, state development corporations (PKNS) will also upgrade several facilities such as the Kuala Perlis local entrepreneurs complex, Arena Niaga in Kunak and Hentian Telupid, both located in Sabah, as well as the Keluncur Taman Rekreasi Laut Food Court in Kuala Kedah.

Anwar said Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will also redevelop its hawker centres and stalls.

He further stated that the government will build a new road from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Bandar Enstek, upgrade Jalan Pajam-Nilai-Salak and continue implementing the Klang Valley Dual Track 2 Project as part of the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 plan which can catalyse Negri Sembilan's economy.

The allocation for the maintenance of registered non-Muslim houses of worship has also been increased to RM80mil.
