KULAI: More than 1,700 Jualan Rahmah Madani (JRM) programmes have been implemented across Johor this year, recording total sales of RM65.7mil.

State Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the initiative has benefited 1.96 million households in managing the cost of living throughout the period.

"To help parents and guardians obtain school supplies at more affordable prices in preparation for the 2026 school session, a JRM is held with a back-to-school theme.

"It is part of the 1,783 JRM programmes that have been organised statewide so far,” she told reporters after officiating the Johor-level back-to-school and Christmas JRM programme at a mall here on Saturday (Dec 20).

She said the JRM back-to-school programme would be implemented in phases.

“The outdoor event will be held today (Dec 20) and Sunday (Dec 21) at the IOI Mall field here, followed by an indoor event on Dec 27 and 28, involving 44 premises throughout Johor.

“The second indoor event is scheduled for Jan 3 and 4 next year, involving 58 premises,” she said.

Lilis Saslinda added that consumers would have the opportunity to purchase various school-related items such as school uniforms, school shoes, school bags and stationery at lower prices, with discounts ranging from 10% to 30% compared to current market prices.

She added that the JRM programme was also organised in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebration.

"The sales events will be organised with an outdoor format at eight locations across the state.

“This is part of efforts to ensure that access to essential goods at affordable prices can be enjoyed by all segments of society during the festive season,” she said.
