Police to refer Jalan Kuchai Lama fatal crash probe to DPP

PETALING JAYA: Police will submit the investigation papers on a fatal road accident along Jalan Kuchai Lama to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) on Wednesday (Dec 17) for further instructions.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said all witnesses, including the owner of a dashcam recording related to the crash, have been called in to give their statements.

The investigation papers will be brought to the DPP for further directions,” he said in a statement the same day.

The accident, which occurred at around 12.30am on Dec 8, claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist who had married just a month earlier.

It was previously reported that the victim, Muhammad Harish Aiman Mat Zahid, was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a Honda City driven by a 38-year-old local man along Jalan Kuchai Lama from Sri Petaling towards Old Klang Road.

The victim sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), where he was pronounced dead at 7.11am on Dec 9.

Initial investigations found that the collision occurred as the motorcyclist was entering a bend while the car was approaching from the Sri Petaling direction.

The case had drawn public attention after family members revealed that the victim and his wife were married on Nov 7, with a wedding reception scheduled for last Saturday (Dec 14) postponed following the tragedy.
