SHAH ALAM: Police are still waiting for a report from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the social media profile of an individual who allegedly posted a threat against a lawyer representing the families of three men involved in a shooting incident in Melaka.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said statements from the complainant and several other individuals have already been recorded.

"The report from the lawyer was received on December 5, and the case has been classified under Section 507 of the Penal Code (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (misuse of network facilities).
"We have sought assistance from MCMC to obtain the profile of the individual who made the threatening comment and are awaiting their response," he told a press conference at Selangor police headquarters here on Monday (Dec 15).
Earlier, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat said investigations revealed that the lawyer had read a comment from an unknown individual on a social media post while at his office in Petaling Jaya.
The comment, which contained a death threat, is believed to be linked to the case being handled by the lawyer.

On Nov 24, three men aged 24 to 29 were shot dead after one of them allegedly swung a machete at a police corporal in an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal.
The 4.30am incident left the policeman, in his early 30s, with serious injuries on his left arm.
Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar earlier said the suspects, believed to be members of the Durian Tunggal Gang, were on their way to commit a robbery.
They had allegedly been active since 2024, involved in 20 cases in Melaka and one case each in Negri Sembilan and Selangor, with losses totalling RM1.35mil.
However, on Dec 3, the families of the three suspects denied claims that the victims acted violently by attacking the police.
Following this, on Dec 4, a special team was set up to investigate the families’ dissatisfaction with the actions of the police.
