Floods: Fewer evacuees in Perak and S'wak as of Dec 11 morning


KUALA LUMPUR: Fewer flood evacuees are seeking shelter at temporary relief centres in Sarawak and Perak on Thursday (Dec 11) morning, compared to the previous night.

In SARAWAK, a total of 140 people, comprising 136 flood evacuees and four landslide victims, are still housed at three centres in Miri as of 8am, down from 152 last night.

According to the state disaster management committee secretariat, 109 flood victims are housed at SK Suai Niah, while 23 others are sheltering at SK Kampung Angus.

In addition, four flood victims and four landslide victims are housed at the  Dewan Bulan Sabit Merah relief centre.

In PERAK, a total of 83 people are still housed at two centres in Hilir Perak this morning, down from 111 the night before.

The Perak disaster management committee secretariat said 52 people are sheltering at the Kampung Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall relief centre, while 31 others are at the Hilir Perak Police Headquarters Multipurpose Hall.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a storm forecast in all districts in Perak this afternoon, except for Kerian, Manjung, Hilir Perak and Bagan Datuk. – Bernama
