Mohamad Hasan critiques unequal political shares in Negri Sembilan's unity government

SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional has expressed disappointment over the distribution of political positions in the state, which it claims does not reflect the spirit of cooperation practised by the unity government at the federal level.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pic), said the distribution of positions should be balanced and done fairly, as practised in the unity government Cabinet.

"As a member of a party which helped form the state government, I would like to express my unhappiness because at the federal level, we had agreed to manage this country together.

"It has to be the same in Negri Sembilan, which we need to manage together and equally,” he said during the state assembly sitting on Tuesday (Dec 9), reported Sinar Harian.

Mohamad, who is also the Rantau assemblyman, said recent decisions in the state did not show this.

"Rightfully, it has to be one for you and one for me, but we are seeing a situation where two is for you and none for me. It shouldn't be like that," he said.

The Rembau MP expressed hope such a situation would not recur as it could raise questions, especially at the grassroots level.

He said each party in the unity government in the state must respect one another.

Citing an example, he said the state government has given both senatorships to representatives from Pakatan.

"Wouldn't it have been better if one were given to Pakatan and the other to Barisan?

"Decisions like these are not proper. I hope this does not happen again as we need to be respectful of our partners," he said.

Mohamad also expressed hope that matters agreed to by both Pakatan and Barisan are executed accordingly.

"Yang Amat Berhormat Sikamat (Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun) in his speech had said that all of us should benefit from an investment, and in the event we don't, we lose out together.

"But in this situation, we are not equals when there are gains. One side benefits while we lose out," he added.
