Durian Tunggal shooting: Seven statements recorded by task force, says Bukit Aman

PETALING JAYA: The special task force investigating the shooting incident in Durian Tuggal in Melaka has recorded the statements of seven people, says Bukit Aman.

Its Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the seven were three family members and four medical officers.

"A family member handed the police a cell phone with an audio recording linked to the case.

"Voice samples were also recorded with assistance from Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) for analysis," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 10).

On Nov 24, Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said three alleged criminals were shot dead after one of them attacked a policeman with a machete at an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal.

The deceased were said to be members of the Durian Tunggal Gang and on their way to commit a robbery.

The gang had been operating since early 2024 and linked to 20 cases in Melaka, and one case each in Negri Sembilan and Selangor, causing losses amounting to RM1.35mil.

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police had received a compact disc containing an audio recording of a telephone conversation between one of the suspects and his wife before the incident occurred.
