KUALA LUMPUR: The Chief Secretary to the Government will review the Cabinet's proposal regarding the dress code for frontline services, including at healthcare and security facilities.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting proposed that several frontline services, including police stations and other government premises, be exempted from the Chief Secretary to the Government's circular dated Dec 1, 2020.

"Recently, an issue arose where an individual was reportedly denied entry to file a police report due to a clothing issue, so the Chief Secretary to the Government will review the circular and make some improvements," he said at a press conference in Parliament.
Fahmi, who is also the government spokesperson, said further statements and new circulars will be issued in the near future after the review is complete.

"But the Prime Minister's view is that on security issues involving police stations, for those who wish to make a report, there should be no circumstances that prevent them from making a police report," he said.
On Tuesday, Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar’s remarks that a woman was barred from entering police premises on Monday for violating the dress code for government premises had gone viral online.
The woman in her early 20s came to the police station with her mother in her 50s to file a report because they were involved in a road accident at 5pm.
However, they were not allowed to enter the police station to lodge a report because the length of the skirts they were wearing was shorter than knee length. - Bernama
