PETALING JAYA: Selangor is poised to strengthen its industrial landscape and create new opportunities for the people with the launch of the 322-acre IOI Industrial Park in Banting, says a state executive councillor.

State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han described the project by IOI Properties Group Bhd (IOIPG) as more than a business development.

He said it is a strong signal of private sector confidence in the state’s economic future.

“We are talking about a 322-acre hub with a Gross Development Value of RM1.5bil, but it is more than that; it is a signal that the private industry, led by IOI Properties, has real confidence in the future of Selangor,” Ng said in his speech during the opening of the industrial park yesterday.

He highlighted Selangor’s continued appeal to investors, noting that the state achieved RM101.1bil in approved investments in 2024, almost double the RM55.3bil logged in 2023.

From January to September 2025, 30% of all local and foreign investment projects in Malaysia were in Selangor, reinforcing its position as a leading investment destination.

“Success is not a destination; it is a continuous pivot.

“The Selangor government wants to build the computing platform for the industries of tomorrow,” he added.

Ng said the industrial park is crucial for the state’s growth, focusing on high-value sectors, intelligence and throughput.

“We are targeting the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 sectors, electrical and electronics, biotechnology, logistics – the industries that will define the next era,” he said.

Ng also stressed the importance of a skilled workforce.

“The most valuable resource in the world today is talent.

“We are driving demand for a skilled workforce right here in Kuala Langat. That elevates income. That elevates everything,” Ng added.

He also explained the industrial park’s role in trade efficiency.

“We are enhancing trade efficiencies. We are positioning this park to maximise the flow of goods. This strengthens Selangor’s GDP. It’s simple physics,” he said.

Ng highlighted the strategic location, with KLIA just 15km away for air freight and Port Klang accessible within 45km via the West Coast Expressway.

“This superior connectivity transforms Banting into a nucleus for logistics and industry.

“It provides the kind of strong, state-supported potential that serious investors are looking for,” he added.

Ng praised IOIPG’s commitment to sustainability, noting that phase 1 and 2 of the industrial park received provisional GreenRE Bronze certification.

“That matters. It shows we can build a manufacturing powerhouse and still take care of the environment we leave to our kids.

“It’s not a choice between economy and environment; we can do both,” he said.

Ng emphasised the importance of collaboration between the state and private investors.

“This park is a partnership where the state provides the stability and the policy framework.

“IOI delivers world-class infrastructure. And the investors bring the innovation,” he said.

Ng also said that the industrial park aligns with Selangor’s Integrated Development Region in South Selangor blueprint to create integrated, connected ecosystems for industry.

“The architecture and location of this park are deliberate.

“With KLIA, the West Coast Expressway and proximity to Port Klang, it’s an ideal hub for logistics and industrial activity,” he added.

By combining talent development, trade efficiency and sustainability, Ng said the industrial park positions itself as a key driver of Selangor’s industrial growth.

“Everything in this park is about creating value for Selangor, for investors and for the future of the industries we are targeting,” he said.
