Delivery rider killed by falling tree in Melaka


MELAKA: A delivery rider has been killed by a falling tree on Jalan Tun Razak-Ayer Keroh near Taman Delima Raya here.

In the 1.30pm incident on Saturday (Dec 6), the 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the spot while a 19-year-old woman who was in a car suffered injuries.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Deputy Fire Supt Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said a team of eight firefighters from the Ayer Keroh station was dispatched to the scene.

"The team arrived within eight minutes and found the victim and a motorcycle pinned under the fallen tree, he said, adding that the team later recovered the victim's trapped body.

He added that they also cleared the road to ensure the route was safe and the operation concluded at 3.18pm.

Mohd Hafidzatullah said the injured victim was sent to Melaka Hospital.
