KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain caused two trees to fall along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) on Friday (Sept 25), resulting in traffic congestion of up to seven kilometres.
A Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) Traffic Management Centre representative said the incidents occurred near Bukit Lanjan and Jalan Duta at about 5.30pm.
The fallen trees blocked the emergency lanes, with clearing works still underway along the affected stretches as of press time.
“Falling branches reportedly damaged a vehicle along Jalan Duta, but no casualties were reported.
“The incident also caused traffic congestion stretching up to seven kilometres,” he said when contacted.
He added that the incident near Bukit Lanjan did not involve any vehicles but caused congestion stretching about six kilometres during the evening rush hour before traffic returned to normal.
Highway users are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on traffic conditions via the official X account @LLMTrafik and the PLUS app. – Bernama
