Flash flood temporarily closes NKVE stretch between Setia Alam, Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: A flash flood has forced the temporary closure of both directions of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) between Setia Alam and Shah Alam on Monday (Nov 2).

In a statement, PLUS Malaysia Bhd said traffic along the affected stretch between KM9.1 and KM9.4 was "currently impassable" and had been "temporarily closed to all vehicles" after a flash flood was reported at about 6.20pm following continuous heavy rainfall in the area.

"As an immediate safety measure, vehicles from Subang heading southbound are being diverted off the expressway via Elite.

"Meanwhile, vehicles from Bukit Raja heading northbound are being diverted off the expressway at the Setia Alam Interchange," it said in the statement.

PLUS advised motorists to avoid driving through flooded roads.

"Even shallow-looking water can stall your engine or sweep a vehicle off the road," it said.

The highway concessionaire also urged motorists to monitor its official channels for updates on weather conditions, flood situations and alternative routes.

For assistance, motorists can contact PLUSLine at 1-800-88-0000, use the SOS button on the PLUS App or contact its virtual assistant, PUTRI.
