SHAH ALAM: Three flood victims, including a disabled elderly man and a baby, have been placed at a temporary relief centre following flash floods in Kampung Melayu Subang on Monday (Nov 2) evening.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said two victims were evacuated to the relief centre at Dewan Siantan, while the identity of the third victim had yet to be established.
He said the department received an emergency call at 5.18pm, with a team from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene 15 minutes later.
"Floodwaters reached waist level in several lanes in Kampung Melayu Subang. However, water levels were reported to be receding," he said in a statement on Monday.
Ashrul Riezal said about 92 houses across four areas were affected, namely Lorong Merbau (30 houses), Jalan Cengal (seven), Jalan Resak (five) and Jalan Jati (50).
He added that some residents were reluctant to leave their homes despite being instructed to evacuate by firefighters.
"Search and rescue operations were also carried out to ensure no one was trapped in the floodwaters," he said.
Five personnel and one fire engine were deployed for the operation.

Meanwhile, pictures and videos circulating on social media showed several residential areas submerged in muddy floodwaters following heavy rain.
Some footage showed water reaching waist level, with residents wading through the floods to salvage their belongings and move their vehicles to safer ground.
According to the Irrigation and Drainage Department's Public InfoBanjir portal, the water level at the Kampung Melayu Subang station stood at 18.88m at 5pm, exceeding the danger level of 17.4m by 1.48m.
The water level was reported to be unchanged, while rainfall at the same station was recorded at 11.5mm, classified as moderate.
Threads user @nazrisays said the main river in the area had overflowed following heavy rain.
Another user, @amm.yusopp, said the flooding was worse than the previous incident, forcing residents to wade through the water to move their cars.
