Deepavali: Demand for ETS, EMUPlus tickets exceed offered capacity, says KTMB

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has recorded the sale of 100,304 tickets for its Electric Train Service (ETS) and EMUPlus services for the Deepavali period, covering travel dates from Nov 5 to 10.

KTMB group chief executive officer Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri said the high demand reflected a positive public response to rail services during the festive season.

He noted that the seating capacity offered had increased by 70% compared to the same festive period last year.

He made these remarks following an event with Deputy National Unity minister R. Yuneswaran distributing 600 Deepavali gift packs to ETS passengers at KL Sentral here Monday (Nov 2).

KTMB had previously announced an additional 14,384 seats across its ETS and EMUPlus services to meet passenger demand for the festival.

Separately, KTMB has also opened ticket sales for its ETS and Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) services for travel between January and February 2027, effective from noon Monday.

A total of 1.57 million seats are being offered via ETS and ERT services for the first quarter of next year.

According to a press statement, 102,819 tickets have already been sold as of Monday from the additional capacity made available for that period.

KTMB advises the public to plan their journeys in advance, purchase tickets through official channels, and arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel experience throughout the festive season. - Bernama
