Sabah polls: Voters get early start at ballot box


TAMPARULI: It’s polling day in Sabah, and voters have been lining up outside polling centres an hour before it opens.

For Alan Chan, 47, he makes it a point to always exercise his democratic right before going on with his day.

“I always come early. If I’m not the first at the centre, I’ll still be one of the first few. It's best to vote early so I don’t have to rush later in the day,” he said when met outside the polling centre at SJKC Chung Hwa here on Saturday (Nov 29).

It is also his fourth time voting, having first cast his vote in 2001.

Another resident here, who wanted to be known only as James, said being early allowed him to go with the day smoothly.

“There’s no rush, and I get to sit and have a drink with my friends at the coffee shop later,” said the 71-year-old.

Tamparuli will see a 13-cornered fight, with 26,767 voters eligible to cast their votes.
