PETALING JAYA: Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB) has secured a RM21.01mil sub-contract from Belian Juta Sdn Bhd to undertake upgrading works for the student hostel block at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Keningau in Keningau, Sabah.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SCIB said it will be responsible for the execution, performance and completion of the subcontract works, including the provision of the necessary materials, labour, machinery, equipment and mechanical plants required for the project.

“The project is scheduled to commence on Aug 21, 2026 and is expected to be completed by Jan 22, 2029.

“The subcontract further strengthens SCIB’s construction and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) project pipeline in Sabah and builds on the group’s recent momentum in securing and pursuing new opportunities across the state.”

Moving forward, SCIB said it will continue to focus on expanding its construction and EPCC project pipeline across East Malaysia, underpinned by disciplined project execution, effective cost management and selective approach to new opportunities.

Non-independent non-executive chairman Datuk Chong Loong Men said Sabah remained an important growth market for SCIB, with the latest project further strengthening its presence in the state.

He said the IPG Keningau project also built on SCIB’s involvement in education-related projects, where effective execution and timely delivery were important to ensure the facilities continued to serve their communities.

“Our strategy is to build a quality project pipeline through disciplined project selection while leveraging our construction and EPCC capabilities.

“We are encouraged by the momentum we have established in Sabah and will continue to pursue opportunities where we believe SCIB can create sustainable value through our project management and execution capabilities,” Chong said.
