Perak flood evacuees down slightly at 4,739 on Nov 26 afternoon


IPOH: The number of flood victims in Perak has decreased to 4,739 as of 2pm on Wednesday (Nov 26), down from 4,851 recorded at 12pm.

A state disaster management committee spokesman said in a statement that 1,469 families are currently housed at temporary relief centres across eight districts.

A total of 44 relief centres are in operation, namely in Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Kuala Kangsar, Batang Padang, Hilir Perak and Muallim.

Manjung recorded the highest number of evacuees, with 1,830 individuals from 545 families being housed at 16 relief centres.

This was followed by Perak Tengah, where 1,415 victims from 409 families were relocated in nine temporary relief centres.

In Hilir Perak, 647 victims from 219 families have been placed in seven temporary relief centres.

Bagan Datuk has 509 individuals from 172  families placed at four temporary relief centres, while in Larut, Matang and Selama, 165 individuals from 53 families have been placed at four temporary relief centres.

In Muallim, 101 individuals from 28 families were placed in two temporary relief centres and 69 individuals from 42 families were placed in one temporary relief centre in Kuala Kangsar

In Batang Padang, three individuals from one family were placed at one temporary relief centre.
