Floods: Banks activate relief aid channels

http://floodrelief@maybank.comPETALING JAYA: Banks have activated flood relief assistance for affected customers and businesses.

In a statement on Tuesday (Nov 25), Maybank said its Flood Relief Assistance will encompass deferment of financing or loan repayment, a reduction in monthly instalment, or extension of repayment tenure.

"Additionally, the bank is also offering a waiver of charges for selected services, such as replacement of debit cards, ATM cards, or cheque books lost or damaged during the floods," it said.

Customers can ask for flood relief assistance by sending an e-mail to floodrelief@maybank.com with details such as their name or company’s name, IC/business registration number, contact number, type of loan/product, and vehicle number for hire purchase matters.

Alternatively, they can visit or call any of the bank's branches or centres nationwide, it added.

"Meanwhile, Maybank Group’s insurance arm, Etiqa, has put in place a quick and easy claim process for its insurance policyholders and takaful certificate holders, with no forms or supporting documents required," the group said in a statement.

To submit a claim, the respective policyholders or certificate holders can submit a text message, photos, or videos of the flood to Etiqa’s dedicated 24-hour WhatsApp numbers: 011-1630 6646 for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis; and 018-226 3288 for Sarawak, Sabah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Melaka and Negri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, RHB Banking Group has announced its Flood Relief Assistance Programme to provide short-term financial relief to individuals and SMEs to ease financial challenges.
