PENAMPANG: Penampang Barisan Nasional has officially thrown its weight behind Pakatan Harapan’s Moyog candidate Remysta Jimmy Taylor.

This will see the Penampang Barisan machinery extending a hand for Pakatan’s campaign in the next four days leading up to the state polls on Saturday (Nov 24).

“Penampang Barisan has offered to give unconditional support. Three days ago, we had a discussion and saw this from Barisan’s component parties,” PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan told reporters after a function here on Monday (Nov 24).

Ramanan said he worked closely with Penampang Barisan chairman Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub towards realising this.

Hasnol said there is no ambiguity towards this cooperation, stressing how he did not require any instructions.

“Even before they (Pakatan) asked for help, I already thought of helping. I personally know the Pakatan candidate very well.

“Perhaps this can be emulated in other locations among local Barisan leaders,” he said, adding that both the Barisan and Pakatan machinery in Penampang will be moving together for the remainder of the campaign.

“In Penampang, we don’t have a problem,” said Mohd Hasnol who also leads Penampang Umno.

Pakatan’s candidate Remysta said there is still much work to do on the ground.

“We cannot be comfortable if we want to achieve victory here,” he said.

Remysta is in a 12-cornered fight for the Moyog seat, located in the Penampang constituency.

Among the parties in the fray are Upko, Warisan and Sabah Star.
