Wee praises Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei for Australian Open title


PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong lauded national mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei for bringing glory to Malaysia with the Australian Open Super 500 title.

In a social media post, Dr Wee praised the pair for securing their second title of the year and ending Malaysia’s 23-year drought in the event.

“The mixed doubles world champions, Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei, have once again made the nation proud by emerging as the champions of the Australian Open, marking their second victory this year,” he said.

He said the pair’s win over their Indonesian opponents capped an outstanding run in Sydney.

“Their victory, achieved by overcoming the Indonesian pair, concludes a series of excellent performances in Sydney, while also ending Malaysia’s 23-year drought in the mixed doubles event at this prestigious championship,” he added.

Dr Wee extended his congratulations to the duo for their achievement.

“Congratulations to Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei for yet another extraordinary accomplishment and for once again bringing honour to Malaysia,” he said.
