KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry is studying a proposal to station police officers permanently or semi-permanently at high-risk schools, says Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

The Deputy Home Minister said police already have School Liaison Officers (PPS) nationwide covering both primary and secondary schools.

“The police have 10,435 PPS at 10,245 schools, involving 7,776 primary schools and 2,469 secondary schools, regardless of whether they are in urban or rural areas,” he told the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Shamsul said the ministry is also working to make it easier for students, parents and the public to lodge complaints or provide information.

“This includes student and parent feedback boxes, and the public can also channel information to the police through its app.”

Shamsul added that PPS officers provide a direct avenue for reporting misconduct or safety concerns.
