KUALA LUMPUR: The cultural diversity, harmony among its multi-racial communities and the spirit of togetherness, which are traits common among the people of Sarawak, continue to be the strengths that unite Malaysia as one family, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a Facebook post Wednesday (July 22), the Deputy Prime Minister described the Sarawak Day celebration, observed annually on July 22, as a meaningful occasion to uphold the identity of the state's people, foster a sense of pride and reflect on the journey of a state that has contributed significantly to Malaysia's nation-building.
"In conjunction with this year's Sarawak Day celebration, I would like to express my appreciation to the Sarawak state government and the people of Sarawak for all their services, contributions and commitment to developing the state and driving the country's economy.
"May the spirit of 'Segulai Sejalai' (togetherness) continue to inspire us to move forward in tandem, while strengthening unity and building a future Malaysia that is more progressive, prosperous and harmonious. Happy Sarawak Day. Sarawak Maju Makmur, Segulai Sejalai," he said.
