Negri polls: PAS candidate rubbishes claim of Friday-Saturday weekend if BN, PN win

Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek.

SEREMBAN: Perikatan Nasional's Ampangan candidate Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek has dismissed talk that the weekend in Negri Sembilan will be changed to Friday and Saturday if Barisan Nasional and Perikatan win the Aug 1 state election.

He said there was no truth in the message, which went viral on social media, about the supposed change.

"We have been made to understand that a message is being circulated among the non-Malays that the weekend will be changed.

"I would like to categorically state that there has been no discussion on this between the Barisan and Perikatan leaderships," he said on Wednesday (July 22).

Rafie, a former PKR member who joined PAS this year, said that those intent on tarnishing the image of Barisan and Perikatan are deliberately distributing the fake message.

He is in a three-cornered fight with Pakatan Harapan's Datuk Muhammad Nazri Kassim and Bersatu's Noo'azah Harun.
