Three dead after two lorries and car crash in Kulai


KULAI: Three people were killed in a crash involving two lorries and a car here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the accident occurred at about 4.15pm on Tuesday (Nov 18) at Jalan Senai-Seelong when the hatchback, driven by a 68-year-old man with three women passengers aged 65 to 87, was hit from behind by a lorry.

"The impact caused both vehicles to veer into the opposite lane, where they collided with an oncoming lorry driven by a 23-year-old man.

"As a result of the crash, the 23-year-old lorry driver died on the spot," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 19).

The driver of the first lorry, aged 46, and one of the passengers in the car, aged 65, died while receiving treatment at Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim, he qadded.

He added that the car driver and two other passengers were sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
