Proposed anti-bullying law could be tabled in current Parliament session, says Nancy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Anti-Bullying Bill might be tabled in the current Parliament session, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

“This law is something good and something we act on it although it is not tabled in parliament yet,” the Women, Family, and Community Development Minister said during a press conference at the 2025 Asean ICT Forum on Child Protection at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Nov 18).

“Hopefully, towards the end of this session, when we discuss the legal section.

“But it is to cover most of the cases that have been faced by the country, especially among the children.

“We want to help the children and parents so that they are able to understand properly as well as to know their responsibilities,” she said.

She also told the reporters that the ministry was strengthening policies on anti-bullying and sexual harassment cases online.

“For children who are targeted online, cases can still be brought before the Sexual Harassment Tribunal and this includes offences committed in digital spaces.

“We have already handled at least one such case involving a child,” she said while adding that she was unaware of the current status of the case.

So aside from criminal charges, victims can also use the tribunal system for offences that happen online, Nancy said.
