PETALING JAYA: Congratulating Barisan Nasional for its victory in the Negri Sembilan polls, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the Federal government will continue cooperating with and supporting the new state government.
"Congratulations to Barisan Nasional on the mandate entrusted on them by the people of Negri Sembilan. I would also like to express my deepest appreciation to all voters who participated wholeheartedly in the democratic process that has just concluded.
"The Federal government will continue to extend its support and cooperation to the new Negri Sembilan state government in the interests of the state's prosperity, well-being and the welfare of its people," the Pakatan Harapan chairman said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Aug 1).
He also extended his gratitude to the people of Negri Sembilan for their trust in Pakatan and Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun who served as the mentri besar for the past eight years.
"Throughout that period, Pakatan Harapan established a legacy of exemplary governance founded on good governance, stability and development that benefited the people. May this legacy continue to be strengthened for the continued progress of Negri Sembilan," he said.
According to unofficial results, Barisan secured 18 seats and Perikatan Nasional won seven seats for a total of 25, which is sufficient to form the state government.
Pakatan won 11 out of 36 seats contested.
