SEREMBAN: The roads outside Wisma Umno here turned into a sea of blue as Barisan Nasional supporters celebrated the coalition’s victory at the state polls.
Large Barisan flags were flown all over while the sound of trumpets were heard all over.
Upon exiting the building, Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was cheered on by hundreds of supporters with chants of “Hidup Presiden!”.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno president, then greeted supporters gathered outside while also obliging for photographs.
His deputy, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, also received thunderous applause with many greeting him with chants of “Hidup Tok Mat” as he is fondly known.
According to unofficial results, Barisan secured 18 seats at the Negri Sembilan polls while Perikatan Nasional secured 7 seats.
This meant it was enough to secure a two-thirds majority in the 36-seat state assembly.
The two are in an electoral understanding for the state polls.
