PETALING JAYA: Bersatu will conduct a post-mortem and thorough review after failing to secure any seats at the Negri Sembilan state polls.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the party accepts the decision of the people.
"This marks the first time Bersatu has contested an election using its own symbol, rather than relying on or contesting under the banner of another party.
"The outcome in Negri Sembilan underscores the need for Bersatu to take bold steps to strengthen internal discipline, intensify its efforts and pursue a reform agenda that delivers the greatest benefit to the people.
Bersatu will conduct a thorough review and post-mortem of the election results to identify strategic measures that will strengthen the party and enable it to continue championing the interests of the Malaysian people,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 1).
Azmin added that the party will discuss the formation of a coalition of moderate and progressive political parties to reinvigorate democracy in Malaysia and help build a brighter future for the nation.
He also extended his appreciation to the voters and party workers who had worked through the campaigning.
