TAWAU: The Special Cabinet meeting, taking place on Tuesday (Nov 11), would not discuss a much-discussed possibility of a Cabinet reshuffle, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister confirmed this in a Bernama report, saying that the government would instead be deciding on whether they should appeal a High Court's decision that Sabah is entitled to 40% of the revenue collected in the state.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the government would first consider the advice of the Attorney-General before making any decision on filing an appeal.
"I have called the meeting for tomorrow. We will first hear the Attorney-General's statement on whether to appeal or not," he said in his speech at the Malaysia Digital roadshow here on Monday (Nov 10).
On Sunday (Nov 9), Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the PM will hold a briefing with the Cabinet on Tuesday to discuss a Cabinet reshuffle.
He said Anwar is also expected to provide an explanation about the resignation of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Ewon confirmed his intention to resign as a Cabinet member through a statement on Facebook on Saturday (Nov 8), which Anwar described as a decision made prematurely.
On Friday (Nov 7), Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir hinted that his tenure might be ending soon, saying he only had “two or three weeks left” as minister.
When met later, Zambry said his comment was merely a joke.
Anwar, who was also at the same event, cheekily avoided questions from the media on a possible Cabinet reshuffle, saying “either rombak (shuffle) or samba... If there are suggestions, please let me know.”.
