SUBANG JAYA: A traffic stop during which an Indonesian footballer was questioned was done according to procedure, police say.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police were also aware of a video clip in which the player was heard muttering several insults.
"An investigation paper has been opened following the spread of several videos that showed the actions of police conducting the stop during a patrol," he said in a statement on Monday (Nov 10).
"Investigations showed that the stop was conducted (according to) set procedures, and all those who were stopped were released.
"We are also aware of several videos of the incident where several allegations (were made) that besmirched the team conducting the stop."
He added that investigations were being conducted under Section 504 of the Penal Code for insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.
One video shows police approaching a car that allegedly went against the traffic flow.
A man in the car is then heard insulting the police, who are off camera.
