KUALA LUMPUR:The Health, Defence and Home ministries will be summoned by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as part of its probe over the government vehicle fleet concession under the Finance Ministry.
Its chairman Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the ministries were among those with the largest fleets managed under the concession.
"The PAC will also summon Spanco Sdn Bhd, the company involved in the concession," she told a press conference at Parliament's media room here on Thursday (Nov 6).
The latest Auditor-General’s Report highlighted the federal government's poor management of the vehicle fleet, citing delays in deliveries and failure to impose penalties.
This included about RM54.51mil in penalties that were not enforced on the concessionaire, even though 6,028 vehicles were delivered late, some by up to 508 days, despite the contract clearly providing for such penalties.
The report did not name the concessionaire, but the Finance Ministry had previously stated in a parliamentary reply that Spanco currently manages the government’s vehicle fleet.
Meanwhile, for the e-Jamin system issue, Mas Ermieyatie said the PAC will continue proceedings by summoning Dapat Vista (M) Sdn Bhd, the contractor that developed the e-Jamin system, as well as the Treasury Secretary-General (KSP).
The witnesses are being called to obtain complete information for the purpose of ensuring PAC’s reporting is comprehensive and thorough.
Both issues were raised in the Auditor-General’s Report 3/2025.
