Kluang cops probing arson incident, threatening note


KLUANG: Police here are investigating an arson incident after a car was set on fire along with a threatening note left at the scene outside a house in Jalan Sri Lalang here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the district police control centre received an emergency call from MERS 999 at about 4.16am in the wee hours of Wednesday (Nov 5) informing them of the blaze.

“The incident is believed to have occurred at around 4am when the 31-year-old male victim was alerted by a neighbour, who noticed the victim’s car was on fire in the compound of the house,” he said here on Thursday (Nov 6).

ACP Bahrin added that a piece of paper containing threatening words was also found at the scene.

He also said that firefighters from the Kluang fire and rescue station managed to put out the blaze at about 4.30am.

“A forensics team from the Johor police headquarters and the Fire and Rescue Department has since conducted investigations to determine the cause of the fire,” he added.

ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.

“Police are still tracking down the suspect or suspects involved in the incident,” he added
