Mother and young daughter found dead in Alor Setar house

ALOR SETAR: A 30-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter have been found dead in their Taman Perak home here.

The woman's seven-year-old son was found alive with injuries on his cheeks and jaw, police said.

According to Kulim OCPD Supt Zulkifli Azizan, they discovered the bodies of the mother and daughter following information received from a neighbour at 11.05pm on Tuesday (Nov 4).

"We found (both bodies) in the same bedroom," he said here on Wednesday (Nov 5).

He said that based on investigations and a statement from the son, police believe that the woman attempted to kill both children before taking her own life.

Supt Zulkiflli said police found two notes apparently written by the suspect.

"We believe she was upset over her boyfriend having an affair," he said.

Supt Zulkifli added that a police forensic team ruled out any forced entry into the house, and the woman and child's bodies have been sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah here for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code for murder and attempted murder, respectively.
