GEORGE TOWN: Forget the calendar – a smaller, unexpected bounty of off-season durian is already hitting the market and thrilling dedicated fans.

Orchard owner Tan Chee Keat, 34, remarked that off-season, or bonus-season, durian are of good quality; however, the finest durian are still typically available during the main season, which runs from May to July.
