Immigration reaffirms commitment to safeguarding national sovereignity

PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty through enforcement operations carried out nationwide during the festive season.

In a Facebook post, the department said that under Ops Pantau conducted from March 20 to 29, a total of 7,154 foreigners were inspected across 147 locations.

A total of 223 officers were involved in the operation, which focused on monitoring and checking documentation as well as the legal status of foreigners in the country.

The department said the operation reflected its seriousness in enforcing immigration laws, while maintaining a balanced and measured approach.

“Although firm, the department adopts a prudent approach by taking into account the sensitivities of the festive season and respecting local community norms to reduce public unease at crowded locations,” it said.

It added that ensuring national sovereignty and security remains a shared responsibility.

The department also reiterated its commitment to continue enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with immigration laws.
