SEPANG: Around RM500,000 worth of drugs were seized by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) after it detained a Chinese national as he landed from his flight.
In a statement Wednesday (Oct 29), the AKPS said that the 26-year-old man was detained at Terminal Two of the KL International Airport (KLIA) on Oct 28.
“At around 3:25p.m, an AKPS officer stationed at a scanning machine detected suspicious images after scanning two pieces of luggage belonging to the passenger that had just arrived from Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
“He was then detained for further inspection before the case was referred to the Customs Department for image verification.
“The Customs Department then found more than 900 small packets containing suspected ketamine, hidden within the inner layers of both suitcases. The total weight of the seized items was estimated to be around 6kg to 7kg, with an estimated market value between RM420,000 and RM500,000,” it said.
The suspect was then arrested and handed over to the Customs Department for further action.
