Newborn baby girl found abandoned outside a house in Subang Jaya


KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down the individual who abandoned a newborn baby girl who was alive, outside a house in Subang Jaya near here, on Monday morning (Oct 27).

Subang Jaya Police Chief Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said they received information from the public about the discovery of the baby next to a house on Jalan USJ 9/5K, Subang Jaya, at 10.27am.

According to ACP Wan Azlan, preliminary investigation found that the baby girl, who was complete (fully formed), was found inside a blue bag, unclothed, with the umbilical cord still covered in blood.

"The baby was taken to the Shah Alam Hospital for further treatment and the examination found that the baby weighed 2.6 kilograms, was 43 centimetres long, and is currently in a healthy and stable condition," he said in a statement on Monday night.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth, and the public who have information regarding the incident are requested to contact the investigating officer Insp B. Vanithabdi at 017-2229832 or the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-7862 7222. – Bernama
