Information leak issue among focus of Dewan Rakyat sitting on Oct 15

KUALA LUMPUR: The government's efforts to restore public confidence following media reports on the sale of the nation's tactical security information to foreign parties will be among the key matters discussed at the Dewan Rakyat sitting on Wednesday (Oct 15).

According to the Order Paper on Parliament's official website, Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (PN-Ketereh) would ask the Defence Minister for details of the damage control measures undertaken by the ministry to address the matter.

V. Ganabatirau (PH-Klang) would ask the Defence Minister to outline the programmes implemented under the ministry to safeguard the welfare and enhance the skills of Armed Forces retirees, as well as the number of personnel who have benefited from such initiatives.

At the same session, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) would ask the Youth and Sports Minister about talent-hunting programmes in various high-performance sports from primary school level, and the extent of parental and school support for talent development from childhood to the professional level.

After the oral question session, the Dewan Rakyat sitting would continue with the third day of the debate on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 at the policy stage.

According to the Dewan Rakyat calendar, the policy stage debate would run for eight days from Oct 13 to 28, while the committee stage debate would run from Nov 5 to 27.

Budget 2026 was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Friday (Oct 10), allocating RM419.2 bil, of which RM338.2bil was for operating expenditure and the remaining RM81bil for development expenditure. – Bernama
