PETALING JAYA: The body of the female student who was fatally stabbed at a secondary school on Tuesday (Oct 14) has been claimed by her family.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat confirmed that the victim’s remains were collected at 7.30am on Wednesday (Oct 15) after a post-mortem was completed at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Pathology Department.
"The body was claimed by the family at 7.30am this morning. Further updates will be provided at a press conference soon," he said when contacted.
Checks at The Petaling Jaya Court Complex showed that the 14-year-old male suspect arrived at the premises around 8.40am in a police patrol vehicle.
ACP Shamsudin said the remand application has been completed.
"He will be brought to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters for investigation," he added.
In the incident, the female student was believed to have been stabbed by a male student
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the victim died at the scene within the school compound. The 14-year-old suspect, who is also a student at the same school, was arrested.
